Coaching
In order to continue to improve the baseball experience for all our players, parents and coaches, Highlands Little League has adopted a new methodology to improve coaching consistency and quality. Moving forward, each head coach, agrees to work with the Highlands Board in standardizing our approach to coaching.
With this in mind, each coach from T-Ball to Majors needs to complete the following.
Baseball Canada NCCP on-line course.
The course takes 1.5 hours to complete and can be taken progressively over a number of sittings. The course costs $37.50.
If a coach has taken this coarse certification within the last year and has a current certificate, they are not required to repeat but they are required to provide proof of this valid certificate to Highlands.
This fee will be reimbursed by Highlands upon successful completion of the course.
Coach-the-coaches session.
T-Ball, Farm Ball and/or A-Ball coaches are required to attend at least one of the pre-season coaching sessions.
It is highly recommended that AA-Ball Coaches and any first time Coaches/Assistant Coaches at any level attend one of these two sessions.
Complete a Criminal Records Check
Coaches will be required to have their Criminal Records Check completed and the results received by Highlands prior to stepping on the field with the players. This process takes between 14 - 21 days to process, so please attend to this no later than March 10, 2017.
The Highlands Board has the responsibility and obligation to approve all Highlands volunteers, including the final approval of all coaches, assistant coaches and managers.
Please appreciate that the above requirements are for the benefit of the players and as we greatly appreciate your time and effort as volunteers, we also want to insure that the players who are entrusted to you, are afforded the best possible learning environment.
